Ninth grade
Ninth grade is an important year for establishing a foundation of skills that you will build upon throughout high school. We will be working all year to develop critical thinking skills and close reading strategies as you analyze literature from multiple genres, periods, and cultures. This course will also place emphasis on developing and strengthening your writing skills - you will gain experience with the writing process through a variety of writing exercises, both formal and informal. Finally, you will be expected to participate in class discussions and collaborate with your peers to provide feedback on each other’s writing and to share various perspectives on the literature that we study. It is important to be respectful of each individual in the class (students and teachers). This allows is for a comfortable environment in which open discussion and sharing of ideas may occur. It also means that you do not interfere with the learning of others, but help to enhance it.
Meet Ms.Baird
I am delighted to welcome you to my classroom for this school year! I am looking forward to beginning a new and exciting chapter. It is my goal to provide all students with an educationally challenging, yet fun experience in my classroom. I have high expectations for my students and know each, and every one of them can achieve those expectations
I attended The College of New Jersey (TCNJ) and earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology with a specialization in Developmental Psychology. From there I pursued my Post Baccalaureate education at Ramapo College, where I received my teaching certification in English for K-12. Currently, I am in the midst of beginning my graduate studies at Rutgers University. My hobbies outside of school and work include drawing, bouldering, and learning new languages. I can often be spotted being led around town by my dog. |
